Former police commissioner, Khehla Sitole, has finally revealed that Nasrec's failed procurement of Rs.45 million was an absolute idea of Fikile Mbalula.
The South African Police Service used R45 million to procure a device that never materialized and later raised suspicions as to who had the idea of such an expense.
The device was to be used to detect threats at the conference after allegations emerged that there would be a danger during the conference and the police would have to use the grabber to detect it.
A high-level intelligence report later found that there was no threat to the 2017 ANC Nasrec Elective Conference, increasing the obscurity over the police purchase of an R45 million interception device. , known as a grabber, a few days before the delegates cast their vote.
Failure to procure the device has since seen the national commissioner, Khehla Sitole, and his two deputies, Francinah Vuma and Lebeona Tsumane found guilty of violating their duties as SAPS officers.
Former national commissioner Sitole under oath in an affidavit finally blurted out that the R45 million Nasrec hoardings were Fikile Mbalula's idea.
Critics have argued that it appears the chickens are finally returning home to pose for Fikile Mbalula who has had such a big mouth over the years, while he too has skeletons in his closet.
"Mbalula is now under attack. He must have annoyed the wrong people with that cancellation of the SANRAL race. When the usual are on your case, know for sure that you have touched the untouchables," some argue that this complaint is politically motivated.
Recently, allegations have surfaced that Fikile Mbalula was expelled from the cabinet meeting by President Cyril Ramaphosa and also that Mbalula and Pravin Gordhan don't see each other in the eye.
Although Mbalula has denied allegations that her relationship with Cyril Ramaphosa and Pravin Gordhan is non-toxic, many argue that there is no smoke without fire and that the chickens are finally returning home to settle.
